WHY IS IT CALLED THE ALAMO?
The building is Victorian and was built in 1880. The earliest that written records show the Property has been offering letting accommodation since 1945, the property was bought by the Gryzbowski's, a polish family, who called it The Alamo in 1967. This is apparently as they had ancestors who fought in the Battle of the Alamo (San Antonio, Texas, 1836).
HOW EARLY CAN WE ARRIVE?
You may drop off luggage any time after 10:30am and strictly NOT before, as we will still be serving breakfast. Check-in to the rooms however is guaranteed from 2pm, but if we know you are arriving between 11am and 2pm to drop off bags, we do rooms in order of known ETA's.
You can inform us of a more accurate ETA on our online registration form, which we send you via e-mail a few days before your arrival date.
There is a lovely cafe, very near to us. About a 4/5 minute walk away, which opens at 08:30 am, where you can wait with a coffee or have your breakfast, before arriving to drop your luggage off.

WHEN DO YOU ACCEPT FINAL CHECK INS?
We close for the night at 9pm, last check in can be up to 11pm by request only. Once you are checked in, you get a room key and front door key, so you can come and go as you please. Also please do not worry, there is no curfew!
We understand some circumstances are unavoidable (e.g. travel delays on the day) and try to accommodate these where we can please where possible inform us of any delays so we can ensure someone is around to check you in.
WHAT TIME IS CHECK OUT?
Checkout is up to 11am . Where possible we will accommodate a later checkout at 1pm at a charge (dependent on the next guest's ETA). When we state check out this only means check out of the room, you can leave bags with us and collect them later in the day.
TAKEAWAYS AND FOOD IN THE GUEST HOUSE?
We do not have a restaurant as there are so many amazing restaurants nearby. However, we understand that not all guests wish to eat out during their stay. You are more than welcome to use our dining room after breakfast up until 9pm A takeaway can be ordered or bring in your own cold foods that can be stored in our communal fridge.
There is on-street parking just in front of the Guest House, or down any of the side streets next to us/Kelvingrove Park which is a very safe area. The parking is free from 6pm on Fridays to 8am on Mondays. Then during the week, there is a charge from 8am to 6pm, then free from 6pm to 8am the following morning- For a short stay (3 hours or less) you can pay at the meter, or use the RingGo App (see below) it costs:

Cost 80p for every 15 minutes.

WE ALSO HAVE VISITOR PARKING PERMITS, WHICH GUESTS CAN PAY FOR FROM US, WHEN THEY ARRIVE, IF THEY WISH TO STAY FOR MORE THAN 3 HOURS WITHIN THE CHARGING PERIOD 8AM TO 6PM. We only have a limited amount of these Permits, as they cost Thousands of pounds from the Council and therefore have to be returned to us after use. Also we cannot judge how many out of our 10 rooms will arrive with cars and when they will arrive and how long guest will wish to use these permits for.

IF YOU DO MAKE USE OF THESE OPTIONS, WE SUGGEST DROPPING YOUR LUGGAGE FIRST AND THEN PARK YOUR CAR.
If guests require taxis during the day (i.e. between breakfast finishing and close) a member of staff can arrange one for you that will arrive in under five minutes. For early morning departures please inform a member of staff when you wish to leave by at least the evening before departure and they will arrange a taxi for you for the following morning. The driver will not ring the bell so as not to disturb other guests who may still be sleeping, but instead will wait outside for you.
HOW DO YOU GET TO US FROM GLASGOW AIRPORT?
By bus: Take the 77 Bus which leaves from outside the terminal, you can ask one of the attendants which stance the bus will leave from. Ask the driver to let you off at Derby Street, the stop just before Kelvingrove Park, outside the Devoncove Hotel. We are 2 to 3 minutes walk away, turning down the next road on the right (Gray Street). We are Number 46 Gray Street, overlooking the park. This takes roughly 45 minutes and is about £3.90 one way/person.
Or grab a Taxi straight from outside the front of the airport - 20 to 30 minutes (£25 to £30).
HOW DO YOU GET TO US FROM CENTRAL OR QUEEN STREET RAILWAY STATIONS?
Central Station travels generally speaking to and from the South (South Scotland, England and Wales etc.) and the South West (Ayr) & South East (Carlisle)
Queens Street Station travels generally speaking to and from the North (Stirling, Aberdeen, Dundee) and the East (Edinburgh) & North West (Milngave, Loch Lomond).

The best way from both Stations is by taxi. You can easily just walk out the front or rear of the stations and find Black Cab taxi ranks. Glasgow Taxis are very reasonably priced are metered, so prices are consistent. The cost of a cab would be from £6.50 to £9, dependant on Station, taxi rank and Traffic.
Uber is available in Glasgow and prices are dependant on availability and time of day. Uber tends to be a lot more expensive than the black cabs for out of hours and peak times. Please support the local black cabs, who have been hit hard by very little funding under Covid restrictions.

We are directly opposite the beautiful Kelvingrove Park, and a few minutes walk away (400m)from the Kelvingrove Museum & Art Gallery, which you can see views of from our Westerly outlook. We are also located very near the University of Glasgow, which we can see in the near distance, containing within it the Hunterian Museum.
As well , we are only 10 mins walk from the start of the city centre to the East, and 25 minutes walk from the centre of town (George Square & Queen Street Train Station). To get to the Clyde River, SEC and Scottish Hydro Centre is only a 15 minutes walk to the South of us. Then the famous Byres Road, Ashton Lane and the Botanic Gardensare a 10 to 20 minute walk to the North West of us, behind the University.

We do not provide a laundry service, but there is a very good laundry very close by (3 minute walk) on Argyle St. You can drop the laundry off, in a bag and pick up later, all washed and folded and even ironed for you if you wish - http://www.majesticlaundrette.co.uk
We are a non-smoking guest house throughout and we ask that you respect this. It is against the law to smoke in a public area in Scotland. Please respect other guests and us by adhering to this. Should you fail to adhere to this, we reserve the right to ask you to leave the Guest House and charge you a penalty price of a night's stay.
PLEASE NOTE: We HIGHLY recommend guests to book restaurants ahead of their stay here, especially if staying on a Friday and Saturday night. We are located right next to the BEST area of Glasgow for the biggest grouping of the best Bars, Restaurants and Cafes. The ‘BEST RATE’ booking is pre-paid and non-refundable. This rate is always the BEST RATE available, because of the Non-refundable, Pre-Payment policy. Payment will be charged upfront at the time your booking is made.
If credit card details used to reserve this room are declined for any reason, we will contact you by e-mail asking for valid Credit card details. You will have 24 hours from this time to contact us with valid Card details, otherwise your booking will be cancelled.
If you wish to cancel your booking you will not be liable to receive any refund.
28 DAY FLEXIBLE RATE
The ‘28 Day Flexible Rate’ booking allows a change or cancellation at no charge from any time up to 23:59 GMT, 29 days prior to your arrival date.
Once you are into the 28 day window (00:01 GMT, 28 days before arrival), you will be charged the full length of your stay to secure the room. If credit card details used to reserve this room are declined for any reason, we will contact you by e-mail asking for valid Credit card details. You will have 24 hours from this time to contact us with valid Card details, otherwise your booking will be cancelled.
If you book our ‘Flexible Rate’ stay within 28 days prior to your arrival you will be charged the full value of your booking upfront.
Any cancellations made within 28 days Window (00:01 GMT, 28 days before arrival) prior to your arrival date will be charged the full value of your booking. (Please see COVID19 Policy below about vouchers)
Being a small business, we also have to protect ourselves from those booking high value Flexible rates.
We have a cap on the maximum value of a booking that can be placed on a Flexible Rate booking. This is 5 rooms and or no more than £800 value of the booking.
GROUP BOOKINGS of 5 or more of our 10 rooms
WHEN BOOKING THE ALAMO as an unserviced/serviced HOLIDAY LET or THE WHOLE GUESTHOUSE (5 or more of our 10 rooms).
The following Booking/ Cancellation terms apply;
50% Non refundable booking Deposit will be taken for all bookings of the Property as a Holiday let or the Whole Guest House (or 5 or more of our 10 rooms) .
Balance will be due no later than 31days before the date of arrival.
If bookings are made within the 31day period, the full amount of the reservation will be due upon booking.
The following cancellation structure applies;
Cancellations more than 91 days before arrival- 50% deposit retained
Cancellations between 60 to 90 days before arrival- 50% deposit retained + 20% cancellation charge = 70% of total booking due
Cancellations between 32 to 59 days before arrival 50% deposit retained + 30% cancellation charge = 80% of total booking due
Cancellations of 31 days or less before arrival 50% deposit + 50% cancellation charge = 100% of total booking due
All cancellation must be made by Phoning us (preferred) or emailing us (which will require you to set up a read receipt at your end, to show you sent the mail and we actually received it and read it.)
You can pay by either Credit Card (Visa or MasterCard UK debit card, Maestro card, cash, bank transfer or GBP Travellers Cheques. We do not accept AMEX.
Any AGENT booking through our online booking system or via telephone booking, shall add their own (% + VAT) commission on top of the booking price.

BOOKINGS MADE THROUGH THIRD-PARTY PLATFORMS
Bookings made through third-party platforms (Booking.com, Expedia, etc) will NOT receive any refunds or Alamo Gift Vouchers if there booking is affected by Government Restrictions on travel. Through booking with the third-party, they are responsible for the terms and conditions of your booking. Please contact the third-party company direct if there are any issues.
BOOKINGS MADE THROUGH THIRD-PARTY PLATFORMS/ OTA’s (Online Travel Agents)
These OTA’s charge at least 20% commission to us from every booking made. Please support Small Businesses and book direct for the following reasons too:
Bookings of different rates made through our third-party booking platforms (Booking.com, Expedia, etc) will follow the policies advertised on these OTA’s (Online Travel Agents). When booking through these OTA’s you are subject their Terms and Conditions agreed at the time of booking with them. As a company advertising with these platforms, we are also subject to their T&C’s Please contact them directly if there are any issues with your booking.
We have no control over their platforms with regards to the following:
